DIY Dish Soap Recipe: Make Your Own Natural and Effective Dishwashing Solution

Washing dishes should be as simple as washing hands, all you need is soap and water. What you don’t need is a mixture of surfactants to get clean dishes. I find that by adding vinegar you’ll elevate the soap to cut grease better. Even still, adding lavender essential oil will increase the germ and bacteria eliminating effectiveness and it smells good. All the ingredients in this recipe are safe to go down the drain and into our waterways. The end result is gentle on the hands and can be used to wash them. Note: Be mindful of your cleaning routine so as not to use too much water. Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

1/2 cup of Castile soap + 1/2 cup of water + 2 tablespoons of white vinegar + 10 drops of lavender essential oil

Directions

Pour ingredients into a glass pump bottle. Squirt several drops onto your scrub brush or compostable sponge, or directly into your dish tub and fill with warm water. Wash as usual.
